We knew we were home.

How a search for an address in 1994 became a five-time Best of Philly house: two Bucks County homes, sixty designers grown from within, and thirty years of quiet transformation.

“In 1994 when Galina and I were searching for a location to build a dream, we imagined a place like Newtown. When we found 25 South State Street, we knew we were home. This was the place where we would change the course of our future and shape the lives of our employees and clients for years to come.”

— David Witchell, co-owner

Thirty years, four chapters.

1994

The search.

David and Galina Witchell go looking for a place to build a dream, and imagine a place like Newtown. On State Street, in the middle of the borough, they find it.

Oct 1996

25 South State Street.

The doors open with seven founding employees, the first members of a company that would be grown, not hired. The address works its way into everything that follows: the house, the standard, and eventually the name above the boutiques.

A second home.

Twenty years in, Peddler's Village: salon, spa, and boutiques in Lahaska. Two homes since, and the same phone number answered the same way.

2026

Thirty years.

Sixty designers, grown from within. Two homes in Bucks County. Five Best of Philly wins. And the same promise on the door: everyone will notice, but no one will know.

Grown from within.

Seven employees became the founding members of the company. Every designer since has been raised the same way: trained personally, in the house, on one standard. It's the slow way to build a salon, and the only way to build this one: when you book any chair here, the house's whole history sits behind it.

Today that means sixty designers across Newtown and Peddler's Village: five levels, from Emerging Designer to Creative Director, priced by experience and held to the same bar. “We are deeply embedded in the community we love.”

Some houses chase what's next. We've spent thirty years practicing what lasts: cut, color, skin, and calm. Sixty designers, grown from within, at home in Bucks County since 1996.

The mezzanine above the salon floor grew into boutiques of its own: 25 South, named for the address. The family added a home store, Home + Home. The chair was only the beginning.
