What balayage is.
Balayage is color painted onto the hair freehand, section by section, instead of saturated in foils. The result is dimension that looks lit rather than striped: brighter where the sun would find you, softer underneath. The grow-out is so gradual there's no hard line to chase.
Who it suits.
Anyone who wants their color to ask less of them. Because balayage grows out softly, appointments space further apart than traditional foils. That makes it the right first color for the cautious, and the right maintenance color for the busy.

What's the difference between balayage and highlights?
Placement. Highlights are foiled from the root for maximum, uniform brightness; balayage is painted by hand for a softer, more lived-in result that grows out without a line. Plenty of guests wear both at different times of year. Your designer will tell you honestly which your hair wants.
How often does balayage need refreshing?
Less often than you'd think. The soft grow-out is the point. Many guests return seasonally rather than monthly, with a gloss between visits to keep the tone fresh. Your designer will give you a cadence for your hair, not a generic one.
Will balayage work on dark or previously colored hair?
Usually. But honestly, it depends on your hair's history. Dark and previously colored hair can absolutely be balayaged; it may take more than one visit to get there safely. That's exactly what the consultation is for, and it's complimentary.
